“Awful Lot of Frustration…”: When Vexed Red Bull F1 Boss Called Out Alpine’s Cheap ‘Economy’ Treatment – EssentiallySports

Red Bull and Renault (now Alpine) enjoyed an extremely successful working relationship between 2010 and 2014. This saw the duo win 4 consecutive driver and constructor titles. However, as the Turbo-Hybrid era began, it all went downhill for the partnership.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner had some harsh words for the French engine manufacturer towards the end of their collaboration. He said, “Effectively we’ve been paying for a first-class ticket and you get an economy seat.”

Horner added, “An awful lot of frustration was born out of that.”
Clearly, Red Bull were not happy with the engines they received during the last 3 years of the partnership.
Since then Red Bull have moved on to Honda for their power units, which also saw them win the driver’s title with Max Verstappen in 2021. However, Honda decided to pull out of the sport at the end of the 2021 season with the Austrian team picking up the IP for the engines.

Now it seems Red Bull has reached an agreement with Porsche for engine supply from the 2026 season. It will be interesting to see how this partnership pans out.
The German motoring giants Porsche had made their intentions to enter F1 clear over the last few years. Now the company has a chance and a deal in place to enter the paddock. As per reports, Porsche have joined hands with Red Bull, which will come into effect from 2026.

The deal will see Porsche purchase 50% of Red Bull’s F1 operation alongside a joint engine program. The deal was accidentally leaked through a document published in Morocco.
Similar to Porsche, Audi have also made attempts in their foray into Formula 1. The German company has plans to take over from Sauber in stages starting from 2023. The deal will see them take control of 75% of the team worth $450 million.
