Charles Leclerc will be looking to win on Ferrari’s home turf
Ferrari and Charles Leclerc are the combination to beat heading into the first European event of the 2022 Formula 1 season, the Emilia Romagna GP at Imola. This track, which returned to the F1 calendar in 2020, is Ferrari‘s home circuit, so Leclerc will be looking to make it three wins from four races in what promises to be an exciting weekend.
In the F1 drivers’ championship, Leclerc has a relatively large lead of 34 points to Mercedes’ George Russell, whilst defending champion Max Verstappen is 46 points behind in sixth place.
This weekend sees the first sprint event of the season so the format is different and there will be a 100km race on Saturday to set the grid for Sunday’s Emilia Romagna GP. Eight points are on offer for the winner of the sprint race which could prove crucial in the title race, with the top eight finishers also scoring points.
As always, you can follow the F1 Emilia Romagna GP through MARCA In English. As for watching it on TV, viewers in the United States of America can watch Saturday’s sprint race and the main Grand Prix live on ESPN. American viewers will be able to see all of Friday’s action including first practice and qualifying, as well as Saturday’s second practice session by tuning in to ESPN2.
Elsewhere, Sky Sports are the official broadcast in the UK, while DAZN have the coverage in Spain, meaning you can stream the F1 action this weekend.
