The World Championship leader’s lap time of 9.8 was almost perfect, keeping the competition at bay. George Russell took second place with an 8.8, while Fernando Alonso’s performance was sufficient for an 8.6.
Charles Leclerc finished outside the top five with just an 8.0. The Monegasque did manage to get on the podium at Zandvoort, but was unable to prevent Verstappen from extending his lead in the championship. Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez did not finish in the top ten.
With his performance, Verstappen strengthens his lead on the leaderboard. The Dutchman achieved an average score of 8.9 this season. Number 2 Leclerc is still good for an average of 8.2, while Russell comes closer with an 8.0.
