The Miami Grand Prix gave Max Verstappen and Red Bull room to chip away at Ferrari’s lead atop the drivers’ and constructors’ F1 standings.
The Formula 1 championship battle between Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen is well and truly on.
Verstappen continued his climb to match his title rival after a rough start to the season with a victory in the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday. Despite starting third behind the two Ferraris, the Red Bull driver made quick work of advancing to the front of the pack and then held on for the win.
Leclerc managed to limit the damage by finishing second with Carlos Sainz scoring a podium for Ferrari to keep the Italians ahead in the constructors.

Leclerc still has a solid advantage over Verstappen but his lead is starting to look less commanding with every week.
Red Bull are also within striking distance of Ferrari at the top thanks to strong showings from both drivers in the last two races. Sergio Perez came home in fourth place in Miami even though he dealt with a power issue for most of the race.
Meanwhile, Mercedes are sitting pretty in third place in the constructors even though they continue to struggle to send out a title-level car.
