Lewis Hamilton has been visiting Africa during F1's summer break, and has spoken of how the trip has had a profound effect on him.
Lewis Hamilton has spoken of feeling “fully transformed” following a trip to Africa during F1’s summer break.
The seven-time World Champion spent two weeks visiting Namibia, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania, and has shared several images from his travels with his Instagram followers.
Hamilton also took to social media to detail how the trip has had a profound effect on him.
“These past two weeks have been some of the best days of my entire life,” Hamilton wrote on Instagram.
“I’m not the same man I was before this trip, all the beauty, love, and peacefulness I experienced has me feeling fully transformed.”
While he shared several photos from the trip alongside his post, Hamilton admitted that he felt they couldn’t capture how he was feeling.
“No amount of photos could capture how I’m feeling now and what I’m trying to say,” the Mercedes driver said.
“Just know, where words fall short emotions run deep. I connected with my roots and my history and I feel my ancestors with me now stronger than I ever have before.
“Namibia, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania thank you. To the people here, the nature and the wildlife thank you. We were welcomed to each beautiful place we visited. We were treated like family.
“To my brothers who joined me on this journey, thank you. I know we’ll be talking about this forever.”

Hamilton’s travels come after mixed fortunes during the first half of the 2022 campaign.
The Briton had a tough start to the year, with Mercedes struggling to match the pace of Red Bull and Ferrari.
There have since been signs of progress, though, and Hamilton achieved five consecutive podium finishes ahead of the summer break.
He currently sits in sixth in the World Championship standings, just 10 points away from fifth-place Carlos Sainz.
