As it has been a long time since the accident, the Schumachers’ lives changed a lot since that ill-fated day.
Jean Todt, who had previously worked with Michael as his team boss, reveals the ordeals that the family has had to face since that day.
While talking to Gazzetta dello Sport, he saidTheir life changed on December 29, 2013. They have to live everything differently. The important thing is that there is the closeness of friends. And Keep Fighting, their foundation.”
“They are things that are part of life, that they are more important than results and our beloved races. Life, for everyone, is not just racing .
Todt has been regularly in touch with the family, providing as much support he can as a friend.
Sometimes we see each other three times a week, sometimes not for a whole month. They are my friends and we are in constant contact. Whatever I can do for the Schumacher family, I’ll do it,” Todt told German newspaper Bild.
The Schumachers have preferred to keep Michael’s recovery and updates private. Not a lot of information is available in the public domain. It is known he came out of his coma in 2014. In 2019, Todt claimed Schumacher “keeps fighting” and was being “well looked after.”
Corinna Schumacher, his wife, said, “I miss Michael every day. But it’s not just me who misses him. It’s the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here.”
