The Indianapolis 500 returns to the Brickyard on Sunday with the 106th running slated for a 12:45 p.m. ET green flag.

Check out details on the race and Scott Dixon’s historic pole qualifying here. Follow our live coverage of the Indy 500 during the race.

How to watch: Live coverage will begin at 11:00 a.m. ET on NBC and the NBC Sports App.

Pole winner: Six-time IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon will lead the 33-car lineup for the fifth time in his career, seeking his first Indy 500 win since 2008. The pole position has produced more winners than any other grid spot in the race's 105 previous runnings, with 21 total winners.

Notable names standing in his way include seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson — starting out of the No. 12 spot — and last year's winner Hélio Castroneves, who is seeking a record fifth Indy 500 title.

Fastest qualifying speed: Dixon set the fastest pole speed in Indy 500 history last Sunday, passing the late Scott Brayton with an average four-lap speed of 234.046 mph.

For Formula 1 fans keeping track at home, Valtteri Bottas holds the record for the highest speed in an F1 race, hitting 231.4 mph in the 2016 Mexican Grand Prix. However, the top speed ever recorded in an F1 car is much higher at 246.9 mph, set at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2006.

Alex Palou and Rinus VeeKay also made up the fastest front row in Indy 500 history, averaging a speed of 233.643 mph, breaking a record that had stood since 1996.
